    Download link problem

    913447
      Hi,

      I am using apex 4.1. I have a report item where a file path(Eg.     *\\172.18.19.182\Case Studies Reoriented\MDM\Telenor_MDM_CaseStudy.pdf*) is stored. I build a report where this item is shown as a link in if I click on it, the file should be downloaded.

      But the link is not generating as I am expecting, it is generating as (*http://172.18.41.50:8080/apex/p?n=\\172.18.19.182\Case%20Studies%20Reoriented\MDM\Telenor_MDM_CaseStudy.pdf*) and as a result I cant download it. Please help me.

      Regards,
      Kaushik

          Hi,

          not sure how you generate your link since you're not telling us, so I can only guess...

          I had similar behavior in APEX which I could solve by prefixing the link to the file with the protocol used
          So try changing your link to
          http:\\172.18.19.182\Case Studies Reoriented\MDM\Telenor_MDM_CaseStudy.pdf
          or
          FILE:\\172.18.19.182\Case Studies Reoriented\MDM\Telenor_MDM_CaseStudy.pdf

          Regards,
          Bas

            Thanks Bas!!

            But my problem is in the report I need the hyperlink as you suggested, but it is not populating. I need to omit the string * http://172.18.41.50:8080/apex/p?n=* from the link(i.e. I need the hyperlink of \\172.18.19.182\Case Studies Reoriented\MDM\Telenor_MDM_CaseStudy.pdf), if I omit it then the file can be downloaded.

            Shall I have to make changes in Column Link or anything else? Please suggest.

            Regards,
            Kaushik

              Hi Kaushik,

              Please let me know what the current link properties in your report are since that's where the problem and the solution are.

              If I generate a report with query :
              select 'www.google.com' as SITE from dual;
              And I set the column SITE as column link and as link address #SITE# I get the same problem you are experiencing ( the generated url is http://apexsite/apex/www.google.com )

              Using the exact same report with a slightly different query it works great
              select 'http://www.google.com' as SITE from dual;

              If your URL's are in a table/column and you don't want to change them to http:// format you can also change the column link to :
              http://#SITE#

              regards
              Bas
