    Sandyboy036
      Hi,

Ive just installed Oracle 11g (11.2.0) on my Win 7 home edition. All the oracle services except 'OracleServiceORCL' have started. The below error is recorded in Windows Event Viewer. Error 1067 pop up comes after unsuccessful startup attempt is done.

Faulting application name: ORACLE.EXE, version: 11.2.0.1, time stamp: 0x4bb1e12b
Faulting module name: dbghelp.dll_unloaded, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x41e594d4
      Exception code: 0xc0000005
      Fault offset: 0x000000000c795f4f
      Faulting process id: 0x1f94
      Faulting application start time: 0x01cda467aa4166fc
      Faulting application path: c:\app\jsr\product\11.2.0\dbhome_1\bin\ORACLE.EXE
      Faulting module path: dbghelp.dll
      Report Id: e888bd29-105a-11e2-9481-8e2ecabfd045

Please can someone assist me on how can I get the Service up and running.

      Thanks in advance.

Try starting the oracle services from the user which you used to install oracle database.
And the user who tries to start the oracle services should belong to oracle DBA group.

try starting the oracle services from command prompt

          c:\>$ORACLE_HOME\bin\oradim -STARTUP -SID ORCL

              Hi Veeresh,

              Thanks for the reply.

I have installed Oracle many a times on my laptop, but never seen this issue occur, when trying to start the OracleServiceORCL manually from services.msc window, same Error 1067 window pop up comes.

How to start Oracle Service from cmd? Ive never tried it so far.

              Thanks for your assistance.

                Hi Veeresh,

Please see the below error, when trying to start from cmd.

                c:\app\Jsr\product\11.2.0\dbhome_1\BIN>oradim -STARTUP -SID ORCL
DIM-00011: The specified service does not exist.
O/S-Error: (OS 5) Access is denied.

Oradim utility is not to start the service , it is to create an oracle service
if you want to start a service you can use :
                  NET START ORACLESERVICE<SID>
                  NET START <SERVICENAME>

looks like OS user you have logged does not have permission to create a windows service

The above error says it all

                      try this

C:\> oradim -STARTUP -SID ORCL -STARTTYPE inst -SPFILE

If that dint worked out try

Right Click on Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator and try the same above command

If again that dint worked out

                      try

C:\> oradim -EDIT -SID ORCL -RUNAS osusr/ospass

then again try starting the ORCL service.

PS : osusr/ospass should be some one who have full access to the OS and database files and should belong to ORACLE DBA group.

Ive just installed Oracle 11g (11.2.0) on my Win 7 home edition.
Oracle database versions are not supported/certified on Win Home versions - http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/install.112/e24186/reqs.htm#CHDHGGFE

Just because it installs successfully does not mean it will work as advertised. Pl see my blog (linked in my profile) on how to install 11gR2 in a VM on your Win 7 Home computer

                          Hi Srini,

                          Thanks.

Did the same, installed VM on my Win 7 machine and got Oracle 11g R2 up and running there.

                            Just to correct...
Oradim utility is not to start the service , it is to create an oracle service
It can be used to start the service too

                              Hi All,

I Have done a fresh installation of Oracle 11g database on my PC. Once the installation got over, Oracle services were started, and I was able to use the database as normal.

Now after rebooting the PC, when I again restarted the Services, I am once again getting the below error on starting OracleService:-

Error 1067: The process terminated unexpectedly.

                              Error from Windows Event Viewer:-

I have download from the below link for my 64-bit Windows Home edition. I have installed it many times since this version was released, but not sure why this Erro 1067 comes up during past few months onwards.

                              Thanks in advance.

It has already been stated that Win 7 Home versions are not supported/certified for Oracle database installs. If you insist on continuing to use an unsupported OS, you will have to troubleshoot this on your own ;-)
