I have some Special Information Types (SIT) that can be created/updated through Employee Self-Service.
By the standard functionality, upon the approval or rejection, the system will send out a standard notification to the employee that the change of SIT has been approved or rejected. This notification will be the same regardless the SIT name.
The requirement is to modify the content of the notification based on the SIT name. Each SIT will have different type of message. Can somebody please tell me how to do this?
This can be done as explained in the Workflow Developer guide, chapter 5 - Notify Activity. As you can see you will need to copy and create your own Notify Activity because the standard one does not have a result, which you need.
In short, this function allows you to have a message attribute called MESSAGE. The value of this message attribute will be set to an attribute in the item type. This way in your logic you will use SetItemAttrText to set the value of the item type and that is the value that the message attribute will take automatically. When the workflow process runs and the control reaches the notification activity the WF engine will have the name of the message you want to send and it will send the notification accordingly.
