This is regarding the oracle dataguard setup b'n two oracle RAC datacenters:
I have two RAC setups, one is single node RAC and the other two node RAC and I need to create the dataguard setup from single node RAC to two node RAC. The communication between the two datacenters is through Network TCP/IP.
While duplicating the primary database(APPN) to create standby database(AUX), following error has been thrown:
Starting backup at 09-OCT-12
using channel ORA_DISK_1
channel ORA_DISK_1: starting datafile copy
copying standby control file

ORA-17628: Oracle error 19505 returned by remote Oracle server
When i checked the oracle alert log, it says unable to access ASM instance. So i need help how to establish the connection between ASM instances between two RAC datacenters.
Please help me.
Check the location of you control file. If it not where you think is should be Oracle will throw this error.
Make sure you use nofilenamecheck in the duplicate command.
Have also seen this error caused by typos in db_file_name_convert and log_file_name_convert

also if this is a newly created cluster where you used role separation and you never created a DB yet, make sure that you can connect as sysdba to the ASM instance (from the DB Home) as the oracle user creating the DB.
