We're looking at improving the tooltips or giving some other visual ID for the tree icons so you don't have to guess or look them up.

For the time-being, take the general advice from there: open the object and look at the DDL in its SQL tab.
The icons next to some of my tables have a horizontal wavvy white line through them (like the table is broken?). Any one know what this means?
That indicates a partitioned table.
Also, if I expand that table tree, some of the icons next to the columns look like a "table cut in half". Can anyone interpret what those symbols mean?
And those would be the partitions.
Not sure why they are listed there since you can't select or right-click them (in 3.0.02 anyway) and you can get the list and more info by selecting the table and the partition tab on the right top window.
