The problem became when I execute the command '/etc/init.d/oracle-xe configure' to configure the instalation.
Send me the next error:

Database Configuration failed. Look into /u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/xe/config/log for details

I've abaut three days trying resolve this problem.

The next are the logs that I have:

    Hello,
    please look that on linux-ux8x (the Host you install) a ping command succeeded.
    In case all your network test are fine. Your problem will be that no listener is running on your host, so start one with lsnrctl start.

    The error you have is that the local_listener Parameter is not resolve able.

    regards

    OK Thanks Phaeus.

    I did that you said me, but now the problem is the next:

    when I execute the command lsnrctl start show me the next in the terminal:

    ***********************begin text on terminal

    Starting /u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/xe/bin/tnslsnr: please wait...

    Listener failed to start. See the error message(s) above...

    ***********************end text on terminal

    Now the next text is the listener.log file:

    Now, What do you advise me that I should do?

    Is networking properly configured first?

    What output do you get from:

    $ ping linux-ux8x

    $ hostname

    When I do:
    ping linux-ux8x

    The message shown is:

    ping: unknown host linux-ux8x

    How I can configure my network?

    Also post output from the second command.

    Anyway, lets so if os config is proper for listener operation with default settings.
    Try the following:

    - stop the listener (probably not running in this case)

    - rename listener parameter file (/u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/xe/network/admin/listener.ora)

    - start the listener

    If starting it succeeds, wait at least 1 minute and run lsnrctl stat.

    One of the things I noticed from the Oracle documentation is that the latest supported Linux verisons are Oracle/RHEL 5 and SLES 11, which were released in 2007 and 2009 respectively. The problem is that in OpenSuSE 12, they changed the startup script from sysvint to systemd. I don't know if that is what's causing it, but it might be a factor.

    The feature was removed in 12.2, but in 12.1, you can choose the option of booting into sysvinit.

    For the benefit of others, the issue in my case was simply that the hostname was unresolvable. Adding it to /etc/hosts is a quick workaround.
