I was trying to install nvidia graphics driver but I am getting the error of kernel files. I suppose this is because of the vesion mismach of the kernel and kernel-devel.
[root@ntcpc Desktop]# rpm -qa kernel\* | sort
yum update kernel-devel won't help since it says it is up to date.
What can I do to match the kernel-devel to the kernel version?
yum -y install kernel-uek-devel-`uname -r`
Pulls the correct headers. kernel-devel does pull a slightly newer version of the header, which is enough on VMWare Workstation 8.0.4 vmware-install.pl to fail.
Your mileage to install nvida drivers under any Enterprise Linux system will vary. Enterprise Linux is not designed for fancy Laptop or Desktop hardware and does not provide the latest development libraries you may need, beside kernel development libraries. If you have a problem with your video driver under Enterprise Linux, I suggest to try some kernel parameters, e.g. nomodset. Or use VirtualBox.
