Adding a new VIP

I am in the process of configuring application VIP for golden gate application running on the clustware. To do this I need a VIP to be configured on the existing 2 node RAC. How do I go about this ? I have obtained a IP in the same network the existing public network from our network dept.

Appreciate your response

    And your database version is?

And your operating system and version are?

And why do you need a new VIP? Why not use the existing ones? Please point to the document you are getting this from or explain the reason.

Thank you for version and O/S. The third part you already stated ... but why not use the existing VIPs? That is what I am trying to understand. And, additionally, how many separate physical NIC card IP addresses on each server not already in use?

I can think of zero value in trying to assign two different virtual IPs to the same piece of cat 5e.

    Hi,

You can do it using command srvctl add vip ..Please have a read http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/rac.112/e16795/srvctladmin.htm#RACAD7738 for details

    Hi ggworthy,

for 11.2.0.3 and GoldenGate you don't need to go through the manual setup.
Since a few weeks there are the preconfigured agents for Oracle Clusterware:

    Especially this one:
