+... post has been moved from the Oracle Linux forum,+
    to the Certification forum,
    for topic alignment ...

You have a certification question. You don't have an OS functional question.

You urgency is irrelevant. That's YOUR concern, not anyone else's.

rukbat, while what you said is factually correct, it's apparent that English isn't his native language. You might want to consider that he may have been trying to say something closer to "hoping for a quick reply".

But they did not "hope" for anything.
They "expected" a response and wanted it as soon as possible.

    Michael,
You know these forums are hosted to let unpaid non-Oracle people have technical discussions. You've been glancing through them long enough. No one is paid to compose a response and there is no obligation that an inquiry ever get a response.

I've been reading these forums through a path that has taken me through three iterations of Sun Microsystem hostings and now into OTN. I can recall reading the forums for more than six months before ever registering to participate. That gave me a sense of what information could be found where, what topics should go where, and what was expected for context formats and etiquette. It has been more than ten years for me.

The sense I got from that O.P. was that they'd paid no attention to what was considered acceptable for their very first post. (Note they hadn't even placed it into the correct initial forum.)

... and now that we've side-tracked the original question, there might never be a response to what was originally asked.

If an answer ever does get posted here, I can arrange to have the distractions deleted and the thread left to be a simple question-and-answer thread.

Leave the sidetrack here .... the master harpers ike a good story. I'm interested enough to hunt this ... but at my own timescale .... i am distracted by ents.

    Okay .... looking in the 2nd most place ( http://education.oracle.com/certification )

    exams

...... then as I've never heard of this one before ..... beta exams .....

I finds a likely suspect and I follows the following URL:

    http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=41&p_org_id=&lang=&p_exam_id=1Z0_460

Its got the exam topics list.

The list looks a little orientated towards what an Oracle partner would need to install/support OEL 6.x for a end user ... how to install it and get the updates and things going properly on an oracle supported system and ensuring the candidate knows the right way to set up an Oracle System for support.

( In passing it would be really helpful if Oracle themselves in general got their act together for support rather than customers ending up in a quagmire of incompetence and wondering if they ought not merely to go off and get stiffed by IBM or whatever ... Oracle sales are giving me a bad day today ).

There may be some more specific information for Oracle Partners I dont have access to, but a lot will be drillable from http://www.oracle.com/us/technologies/linux/overview/index.html and other siimilar resources.

    Or OP may cd /usr/share/doc

    This is all IMHO

    Thanks
The page shows the exam is in beta ... (up until at least 15th december according to my estimate) ... and that can extend (or it could even exceptionally reduce). Three months after beta ends it goes to production .... and the exam price shoots up.

Oracle also has a couple of other linux exams ... but the 1z0-403 is rhel 4 based and is becoming out of touch through obselesence. 1z0-402 is relevant but probably not vastly recognised.

IMHO from the exam topics this exam appears to be targetted at ensuring Oracle Partners Staff have demonstrated some understanding of how to assist in setting up OEL and can apply the support Procedures Oracle have in place for business customers. ( Oracle Partners are awarded points for staff having such exam credits; and that can be important in maintaining their partnership level status ... silver, diamond ...... etc).

Some will find other linux certification offerings more relevant for them ... LPIC/COMPCIA/ubuntu/RHEL ....

Any thank you for hinting this exam existed to me .... i had not heard about it and beta's do not stay at the cheap beta price for long. If I have the time (and I dont really) I'd have a shot at it myself in beta.
