Oracle streams and Global name
Oct 22, 2012 4:07 AM
I am new Oracle streams and is trying to replicate a few tables that are located in a different database in a different server.
Oracle docs says that Global name has to be set to true for streams.
Unfortunately we have legacy systems where the dblink names are not the same as the database and so I cannot set the Global name to true as it will cause the dblinks to fail.
Have anybody tried to do replication without the global names set to true? or is there a workaround?
the databases are both 11g.
Thanks for any suggestions

It is recommended to set global_names to true for streams. But streams will work fine even if global_names is set to false.
Just make sure that your dblink is working fine.
