ASM on win XP (newbie)

dario-2280378Oct 22 2012 — edited Oct 22 2012
Hello,

for test purposes, I want to create an ASM in Win XP (64bit). On this system I have 4 disks.
1st is with C, D and E partitions, while other 3 (which I wanted to use for ASM) are not partitioned or formated, but not asigned a drive letter.

as I started asmca, I wanted to create a disk group, but it's showing me only one 'disk' which is of size of E logical partition.
How could I add any of those disks?

Also, do I need to format them, assign them (or not) drive letters?
I wanted to have 3 disks and to do some tests and practices for myself

best regards

Windows XP is not a little old?

Have you tried to search on Google ASM + Windows XP + Install ...

I am absolutely sure you would find this link:
http://www.databasejournal.com/features/oracle/article.php/3571371/Oracle-10g-Automatic-Storage-Management-ASM-Part-2-Sample-Implementation.htm

Always use documentation or Google It.

Hi,

Have a read note "How To Setup ASM (10.2) on Windows Platforms [ID 469082.1]" or "How to setup ASM on Windows [ID 331796.1]"
