standby stop applying archivelogs

Hello,

yesterday, for the purpose of purgering flashback logs (it occupied a lot of FRA space) in standby, I dropped one 'restore point' in the standby database, and 'rm -r' one flashback log (because not very sure, so only rm one flashback log).

this is what I did

cc:
To remove uncessary Flashback Logs, you need to do the following:
1) drop any Guaranteed Restore Points that you don’t need (e.g. drop restore point ===> done in standby
2) set the init parameter DB_FLASHBACK_RETENTION_TARGET adequately ===> done in standby
3) Log in as root and run the following statements:
ls -lrt …/flashback|tail -100 =====> only 'rm' one flashback log (in asm )
prepare delete statement for each file you want to remove
(e.g. rm -f)

then this morning, I found last Applied log is stuck in yesterday afternoon. the stanby database won't apply archivelogs.
SYS> alter database recover managed standby database using current logfile disconnect;
alter database recover managed standby database using current logfile disconnect
*
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-01153: an incompatible media recovery is active

Any idea to fix those problem?

thank you

    Hello;

    alter database recover managed standby database cancel;

    Then :

    alter database recover managed standby database using current logfile disconnect from session;

    Best Regards

    Hi,

    it could also be that he accidentally removed the flashback log, which was just written to.
    This would also permit the database from applying redo.

    In this case you have to stop flashback and reenable it before you can continue.

    So in between the cancel and the restart do

    alter database flashback off

    and

    alter database flashback on

    Regards

    Hello again;

    Try :

    Shutdown Immediate

    and post the results.

    If the shutdown works and you are NOT using Data Guard Broker then do this :

    SQL> startup mount

    SQL> alter database recover managed standby database disconnect from session;

    Change the second command to using current logfileif you need that.

    Best Regards

    Hello again;

    I would not do a shutdown abort.

    You want to avoid this as Oracle may bark hard and you could compound your issue.

    Check the last 100 lines of your Standby alert log for warnings and errors and post the results.

    Best Regards

    Mseberg and Sebastian ,

    I got the problem fixed now, what I did is to combine you two suggestions together, and I did do shutdown abort, it proves no problem.

    thank you very much !!!!
