I am trying to set up a topology on my local machine. When I try to create a data server, I don't get the context menu (right click) on physical architecture -> Technologies -> oracle where I am supposed to select new data server.
What Have I done wrong in installation or setup so far?
Database: oracle 11.2.0
ODI 22.214.171.124.0 (Build ODI_126.96.36.199.0_GENERIC_111219.1055)
OS: Windows 7 64bit
I have already restarted the computer several times.
I am using java (JDK) 1.7_0_09, which might be the problem.
I will see if I can get java JDK) 1.6 installed and will retry the whole setup again.
Thanks so far.
You dont select a context against a dataserver, you select a context against a physical schema - which is the next level down int he tree, OK past the dataserver and add a physical schema , then select context against this.
yes, I am not yet so far in the tree.
I have installed java 1.6 and set the environment variables to use this version instead of 1.7, but it didn't make any difference.
Should it make a difference if I deinstall java 1.7?
After the installation of java, I reinstalled ODI again, and began by creating a new master and work repository.
I can add users, change their profiles, etc. I can see several options for new.... (context is one of them; new technology and new agent as well), but I don't have a possibility to select new data server on any technology in the physical architecture.
Well last idea :
Try to uninstall ODI, uninstall your 1.7 and 1.6 JDK and try to install 1.6 JDK again. Unable to create New Data Server
Do you use 32-bit or 64-bit version of the JDK ? Might be a good idea to try both. 64-bit version in only supported since version 188.8.131.52 of ODI.
oops, I had forgotten to modify the jreloc parameter in the installation to the correct version. :(
reinstalling with the correct jreloc parameter did the job. Thanks Jerome.
