one of our RAC's (production database) has to be moved to another Datacenter the next year. The size of the RAC database is about 3 TB, Oracle release 11gR2.
Now we have the idea the create a standby database in the new Datacenter. This standby database can be converted into a snapshot standby database to give the developers the ability to test their applications. And if this tests succeed the current RAC database can be shut down and new RAC database will be used as the production environment - means that the standby database should turn into a RAC database. This is technically possible - at least in my understanding.
But my question in this thread points into a different direction:
- since the standby database should replace the current RAC database the standby database must get setup on a 2 node environment. In our current environment
we have several standby databases running - but those are always single instances on a single host.
My question is:
Is it possible to setup a standby database on a RAC environment with 2 nodes? I've searched through MOS but didn't find any information about that...
