PMML

Hi folks,

We are evaluating OBIEE vs SAS and a question on PMML came up. Can you build models in SAS and then import them in OBIEE via for example PMML?
If not, how could we leverage our current SAS investment but using OBIEE at the same time. We use only Oracle DB.

Thanks
Oscar

You should be able to connect SAS datasets to OBIEE via ODBC and take the reporting in OBIEE from there. Refer to this thread for more details: 830666

Please mark correct or helpful if answered.

Thanks for quick reply A.Y

I realize my question was to fuzzy. We do not really have any SAS datasets (SPDS).
The SAS developers design their mining models in their SAS development tool, as I understand compatible with the PMML language.

I need to convince my management that we can still leverage the users knowledge in SAS for the datamining stuff but we need a strong reporting/BI tool like OBI which I prefer. Microstrategy has also come up as an alternative. We us that in another department. They claim they can take a SAS model (exported in to the PMML) and use it straight off.

Any ideas?

As far as I know (and I'm no expert!) you will need a tool like ODM to import the PMML xml models and then ODM connects seamlessly with OBIEE. I know that kind of beats your purpose since you have a data mining tool already but that's my two cents.
