in step 2.3, after replacing jdk to ias_oracle_home/appsutil/jdk directory and i will copy latest version JDK to jdk directory then do i need to install java..? or just need to keep it like that.Yes, you need to install it -- See the section under "When installing JDK6 for windows, by default the following options are selected" for details.
i completed step 2 and now i am in step3.
i downloaded latest JDK version to 10.1.2 oracle home and applied required patch with latest Opatch version, do i need to install JDK in 10.1.2 home as well..?
or i just need to rename existing JDK to JDK_old then create new JDK folder then install..?, i am confused.It is mentioned in the same doc, under Step 3 -- Now install the downloaded latest update of JDK 6.0 here
its a single node,when i tried to install JDK on 10.1.2 home,i am getting warning message " the software has already been installed on your comupter would you like to reinstall it"As applmgr user, source the application env file and issue:
E:\oracle\dev\apps\apps_st\appl>cd %ORACLE_HOME%Since you have renamed the directory under 10.1.2 ORACLE_HOME, please update the path in the command referenced in my previous reply and post the output of "java -version" from that directory.
as per document i renamed existing JDK directory and created new JDK directory and copied JDK software.

E:\oracle\dev\apps\tech_st\10.1.3\jdk\bin>java -versionWhat does "which java" return?
java version "1.5.0_18";
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.5.0_18-b02)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.5.0_18-b02, mixed mode)
E:\oracle\dev\apps\tech_st\10.1.3\appsutil\jdk\bin>java -versionThis looks OK to me since you have upgraded 10.1.3 ORACLE_HOME to this JDK version.
java version "1.6.0_37";
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_37-b06)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 20.12-b01, mixed mode, sharing)
from old 10.1.2 home JDK versionThis indicates that you are on 1.4.x and you need to upgrade to the latest JDK version, so please ignore the error you got before and continue with the installation.
java version "1.4.2_14"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.2_14-b05)
