    Yes, you need to install it -- See the section under "When installing JDK6 for windows, by default the following options are selected" for details.

    Thanks,

    Thanks for information, do i need to keep same as it is downloaded file(jdk-6u37-windows-i586) to JDK directory or need to change the file exetion like jdk-6u37 to JDK directory,

    but i can see old JDK directory lot of files under that

    bin,demo,include,jre,lib,sample,src under old JDK directory.

    You do not need to rename the file and you need to install it under the JDK directory and you should have all those directories then.

    Note: I have edited my previous reply since I was under the impression that you are upgrading JRE and not JDK, sorry!

    Thanks,

    i completed step 2 and now i am in step3.

    i downloaded latest JDK version to 10.1.2 oracle home and applied required patch with latest Opatch version, do i need to install JDK in 10.1.2 home as well..?

    or i just need to rename existing JDK to JDK_old then create new JDK folder then install..?, i am confused.

    It is mentioned in the same doc, under Step 3 -- Now install the downloaded latest update of JDK 6.0 here

    As applmgr user, source the application env file and issue:

    $ORACLE_HOME/jdk/bin/java -version

    Please post the output here.

    Thanks,

    Since you have renamed the directory under 10.1.2 ORACLE_HOME, please update the path in the command referenced in my previous reply and post the output of "java -version" from that directory.
    E:\oracle\dev\apps\tech_st\10.1.3\jdk\bin>java -version
    java version "1.5.0_18";
    Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.5.0_18-b02)
    Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.5.0_18-b02, mixed mode)
    What does "which java" return?
    E:\oracle\dev\apps\tech_st\10.1.3\appsutil\jdk\bin>java -version
    java version "1.6.0_37";
    Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_37-b06)
    Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 20.12-b01, mixed mode, sharing)
    This looks OK to me since you have upgraded 10.1.3 ORACLE_HOME to this JDK version.

    Thanks,

    This indicates that you are on 1.4.x and you need to upgrade to the latest JDK version, so please ignore the error you got before and continue with the installation.

    No need to change the context file, just run AutoConfig and make sure it completes successfully then bounce the services.
