Adding instances to an existing node

Hello, we have a two node RAC environment, version 11.2

Each node already has four production instances, we are now being asked to create a new cluster database and add a instance to each node.

I would like to do a risk assessment, is it safe to create a new db and add instances while the other four production instances are up and running. They all share the same oracle home and listener.

Thanks

    Hi,

The other instances / databases are not required to be bring down when you create new database. Make sure you still have room to create the new database i.e memory, cpu capacity and disks.

    Cheers
