      Hi All,

      I am newbie in oracle database. Here I have to upgrade databases.

      OS - RHEL 5.5

      I have database 10.2.0.3 and want to upgrade to 11.2.0.3. Below steps I have follwed for the same.

      1- Install 11gR2 home in a different directory

      10gR2 home - /u03/loracle/product/10.2.0/
      11gR2 home - /u03/oracle/product/11.2.0/

      2- run utliu112i.sql and followed the steps.

      3- created Pfile and copied to new home.

      I have changed the name to DIAGNOSTIC_DEST for background and user dump. What I can do for core dump and audt ?

      In pfile, some parameters path of bdump,cdump abd udump,flash area are under /u03/loracle/product/10.2.0/admin.
      How I can change this path for the new home.So that I can delete old home(/u03/loracle/product/10.2.0/) completely. ?

      4- exported new home,path and librarary.

      5- While using dbua, it is not diplaying databases. it is blank.
      Please help me how I can achieve this. ?

      6- 9- While running sqlplus '/as sysdba' I am getting below output.

      **libnuma: Warning: /sys not mounted or no numa system. Assuming one node: No such file or directory**

      SQL*Plus: Release 11.2.0.3.0 Production on Wed Nov 14 07:55:05 2012

      Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.3.0 - Production
      With the Partitioning, OLAP, Data Mining and Real Application Testing options
      SQL>

      Please let me know what could be reason for the warning - **libnuma: Warning: /sys not mounted or no numa system. Assuming one node: No such file or directory** ?

      6- I have deleted old listener and created listener with same port(1524) and started.

      7- I have used manual upgrade (catupgrd.sql) and upgraded database successfully.

      8- run utlu112s.sql,utlrp,catuppst.sql

      9- Shutdown database and started again.

      10- Database is up and running

      11- When I try to connect to database with sqldeveloper I can't connect to database with port 1524.

      Getting error - ORA-01034:Oracle not available . ORA-27101 - shared memory realm does not exist.

      TST =
      (DESCRIPTION =
      (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = ts01)(PORT = 1524))
      )

      ADR_BASE_TST = /u03/oracle/product/11.2.0

      SID_LIST_TST =
      (SID_LIST =
      (SID_DESC =
      (GLOBAL_DBNAME = TST)
      (ORACLE_HOME = /u03/oracle/product/11.2.0/db_1)
      (SID_NAME = TST)
      )
      )

      And used command to start -> lsnrctl start tst and it started successfully.

      If I run command - lsnrctl start and it is starting with port 1521 and with this port and I could able to connect to database There is no tnsname.ora file under HOME/network/admin with port 1521.
      And we want to run other instances on this server, so I want to to sue the port 1524.

      I know I am doing some mistake. but I can't catch that.Pleas help me on this.

      First time I am doing 11.2.0.3 upgrade.

      Thanks,

            Follow the instructions in the Install Guide - http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/install.112/e24321/appendix_ofa.htm#sthref812

            DBUA looks at the contents of the /etc/oratab file - does this file exist and is it readable ? Can you post the contents of this file ? If this file does not exists, create it (see http://www.orafaq.com/faq/what_is_oratab_and_what_is_it_used_for)

            Pl see this MOS Doc

            After Installing 10.2.0.4, Database Startup Reports "libnuma: Warning: /sys not mounted. Assuming one node per CPU: No such file or directory" [ID 559636.1]
            6- I have deleted old listener and created listener with same port(1524) and started.
            Did you copy the tnsnames.ora and listener.ora files from the 10g ORACLE_HOME TNS_ADMIN to the 11g ORACLE_HOME TNS_ADMIN directory, then edited them to reference the 11g ORACLE_HOME paths ?
            7- I have used manual upgrade (catupgrd.sql) and upgraded database successfully.
