Hello,1 person found this helpful
The disks should not be owned by ROOT. The disks under /dev/oracleasm/disks should be owned by oracle.

1. when run oracleasm configuration -iDefault user to own the driver interface : oracle
Default group to own the driver interface : dba <<<<<<<<<< what group should I use? I see people use oinstall, dba...
2. after mounting /dev/oracleasm directory by using /usr/sbin/oracleasm init, what directory permission should I set?
it is root:root after mount.
I tried to run installer for grid, if I don't change /dev/oracleasm to 766, the ASM disks don't even show up.
If you are using single user for grid and database I would set oinstall as the group owner.
You don't need to set permission on /dev/oracleasm.. asmlib will take care of it
Have a read http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/install.112/e22489/storage.htm#CDECEBGH for more information.
Hope it helps
Thank you Shivananda and Fiedi Z !
You guys solve my questions and fast also.
Thnaks much again!
As I know ASM lib is not used in RHEK 6. There is no need to use it. Please correct if I'm wrong
It is very confusing for OL 6. I am trying to installl 11gr2 2-node RAC database, and stilll not very successful.
I don't know if ASM lib is not used in RHEK 6. But I do know when you use Asmlib in OL 6, the setup will be modified.
I have some rac based DBs workig on RHEL6 without asmlib. Usually problem is releated to disk's owner changing, although it's solvable too.
