I'm being told I need to clone our production Oracle Database 11g R2 VMware VM. The server is running RHEL 5.8 64-bit host and Oracle Database 22.214.171.124 software. Now my question is after I clone the production database and have a 2nd duplicate server, what has to be done to the database software to acknowledge the FQDN and IP address changes on the clone? I know that when I install Oracle Database software, the folder structures are bound to the machine's FQDN however I've renamed the FQDN and IP on the new clone. What commands / scripts / procedures need to be in place so that we can have a clean healthy Oracle 11g R2 system?
If you are using linux you can use system-config-network command to change hostname and change in /etc/hosts as well , after that reboot your Server . and also you have to change it on listener.ora and tnsnames.ora
