From the Technical Reference (MaxL 'GRANT' command): "There may be only one filter per user per database. Therefore, granting a filter replaces any filters the user may already have on that database."
A user can be a member of multiple groups, each of which is assigned a different filter (managing security through groups is best practice anyway), although the interaction of multiple filters on the same database can be counterintuitive.
