Can someone tell me why this is happening.
I am installing 22.214.171.124 grid software and want to created 2-node rac database on ol 6.3 hosted on 2 virtual machines using virtualbox on window 7 PC.
I use asmlib to create my shared disk. and stored in /dev/oracleasm/disks/ directory.
I installed the grid cluster software successfully and run the following commands to check the grid installation and seems OK.
crsctl status res -t
[root@c8rac1 ~]# crsctl check crs
CRS-4638: Oracle High Availability Services is online
CRS-4537: Cluster Ready Services is online
CRS-4529: Cluster Synchronization Services is online
CRS-4533: Event Manager is online
[root@c8rac1 ~]# srvctl status asm
ASM is running on demo2,demo1 What I don't understand is after reboot, I found the /u01 /dev/oracleasm are modified.
#ls -l drwxr-xr-x. 3 root oinstall 4096 Nov 12 22:33 u01
#ls -l /dev/oracleasm drwxr-xr-x 4 root root 0 Nov 15 17:17 oracleasm
I following the installation guide and do the following:
# mkdir -p /u01/app/11.2.0/grid
# mkdir -p /u01/app/grid
# chown -R oracle:oinstall /u01
# mkdir /u01/app/oracle
# chown oracle:oinstall /u01/app/oracle
# chmod -R 775 /u01/ So, which process has modified the original setting? Should I continue with database installation? or should I change back the original setting then install database?

These are the default permissions.
I assume you have installed grid on /u01. If that is the case then /u01 having root oinstall permission is correct.
Also /dev/oracleasm has to have permission root root.
You can go ahead and continue with the installation!
