I am currently investigating how to use an XML file to hold ODBC connection parameters eg username, passwords etc (Not be confused with using XML file as a datasource)
My current connection pool settings use the ODBC 3.5 call interface.
When I change this call interface to 'XML' and click on the 'XML tab' :
Can or should the connection method script be an XML file to store these ODBC connection properties? if so how would we build and structure this XML file as a connection script
Thanks for any replies in advance
Instead of manually creating Connection pool, if you import XML data Admin tool will take care of things right?
To import XML data using ODBC:
To access XML data sources through ODBC, you need to license and install an XML ODBC driver.
Next, create ODBC DSNs that point to the XML data sources you want to access, making sure you select the XML ODBC database type.
From the File menu, choose Import > from Database.
Follow the instructions in the dialog boxes to import the ODBC DSNs into the repository.
i think you have misundertood my post, or i have not explained myself clearly
I dont want to import XML data using admin tool or use XML as a datasource Instead I want to find out if there is an XML file that holds the ODBC connection parameters
hope this is more clear
I think Yes, and for that we have to go for repository variables and Connection Scripts tab in connection pool wizard.
DSN,uid, and pwd are values of rep variables and these are loaded using Connection Scripts options.
