Hi Experts:

My RMAN setting are as follows;

RMAN configuration parameters for database with db_unique_name ORCL are:
CONFIGURE RETENTION POLICY TO RECOVERY WINDOW OF 7 DAYS;
CONFIGURE BACKUP OPTIMIZATION ON;
CONFIGURE DEFAULT DEVICE TYPE TO DISK;
CONFIGURE CONTROLFILE AUTOBACKUP ON;
CONFIGURE CONTROLFILE AUTOBACKUP FORMAT FOR DEVICE TYPE DISK TO '/media/disk/UATRMAN/ora_cf%F';
CONFIGURE DEVICE TYPE DISK PARALLELISM 1 BACKUP TYPE TO BACKUPSET;
CONFIGURE DATAFILE BACKUP COPIES FOR DEVICE TYPE DISK TO 1;
CONFIGURE ARCHIVELOG BACKUP COPIES FOR DEVICE TYPE DISK TO 1;
CONFIGURE CHANNEL DEVICE TYPE DISK FORMAT '/media/disk/UATRMAN/ora_df%t_s%s_s%p';
CONFIGURE MAXSETSIZE TO UNLIMITED;
CONFIGURE ENCRYPTION FOR DATABASE OFF;
CONFIGURE ENCRYPTION ALGORITHM 'AES128';
CONFIGURE COMPRESSION ALGORITHM 'BZIP2';
CONFIGURE ARCHIVELOG DELETION POLICY TO NONE;
CONFIGURE SNAPSHOT CONTROLFILE NAME TO '/u01/oracle/product/11.1.0/db_1/dbs/snapcf_orcl.f';

My Script is for Rman is:

Run
{
allocate channel c1 device type disk;
allocate channel c2 device type disk;
allocate channel c3 device type disk;
allocate channel c4 device type disk;
backup incremental level 0 database;
crosscheck backup;
crosscheck backupset;
delete noprompt obsolete;
release channel c1;
release channel c2;
release channel c3;
release channel c4;
}
Exit;

Problem which I am facing is that backup runs at 20.00 hrs every night my flash recovery area is 30GB which is full due to
BACKUPSET in flash recover area & dont have much space in internal HD. Everthing is going in my /media... except BACKUPSET !
How can I shift this folder my '/media/disk/UATRMAN/blah_blah_blah'

Please guide
Thanks

    CONFIGURE CHANNEL DEVICE TYPE DISK FORMAT '/media/disk/UATRMAN/ora_df%t_s%s_s%p';
    Hello,

    You have configure the the default channel pointing to location "/media/disk/UATRMAN/". Clear the existing channel and configure a new channel pointing to the location which has enough disk space to hold the backups. Do as:
    RMAN>configure channel device type disk format clear;
    RMAN>configure channel device type disk format '<location which has enough disk space>/ora_df%t_s%s_s%p';

    Hello;

    You can take the backup to USB but it will be very slow. A local hard drive will be much faster.

    You will see wait events for RMAN backup if you use USB.

    Check out :

    RMAN-06900, RMAN-06901 And ORA-03135 Errors backing up to a USB disk device [ID 604494.1]

    If possible configure RMAN directly talk to tape.

    You can make this change, but you will probably want to undo it soon after.

    Best Regards
