I am totally new to BIA. I am getting below error when I tried to create PowerCenter repository service.
OBJM 54538 : Unable to connect to the repository BIA_RS on database orcl.world
REP-51002 : Failed to logon to database server
Databsae driver error
function name : logon
ORA-12154 : TNS could not resolve the connect identified specified
Databsae drive error
Function name: connect
Database erro: Failed to connect to database using user [infadomain] and connect string [orcl.world]
1 - My TNS file:
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = IPC)(KEY = EXTPROC1521))
(SID = CLRExtProc)
(PRESENTATION = RO)
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = ts.xxx.com)(PORT = 1521))
(SERVER = DEDICATED)
(SERVICE_NAME = orcl.xxx.com)
And I could able to connect to database orcl from sqldeveloper with user name=infadomain, sid=orcl and port 1521.
Below steps I have followed. I have installed everything in the same server and follwing the link for the same - http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E20490_01/bia.7963/e19038/windows_ic.htm
1- Installed windows 2003
2- installed Oracle software
3- Create a database name orcl
4- create user infadomain and grant dba to infadomain
5- Install RCU
6- Install OBIEE 11g
7- Install BIA 18.104.22.168
8- Verifying installation files
8- Install informatica client and server on the server - 9.0.1
9- login to Informatica Administrator from my local PC - http://xxxx.com:6007/administrator
I just created database orcl and created user infadomain and granted DBA role. Do I need to do anything here before creating repository service ?
Kindly help me on this.
Can you try connecting to the database using sqlplus not sql developer. and try to use tnsping orcl to verify the entries are in the tnsnames.ora.
Another check is to search how many tnsnames.ora files are on the system and find out which one is active to add the tns entries.
Hope this helps.
The problem resolved. Issue fixed after giving the database string "orcl" instead of "orcl.world". In most of the docs/steps I saw people are using "sid.world". Still I don't understand the need of ".world". I am thinking it is not full domain name.
