    11gR2 XE Listener dies after about 10 seconds

      I am able to start a listener, connect via sqlplus, but after about 10 seconds it dies and there is no explanation.

      $ lsnrctl start

          What linux-based OS is on the host?

          Does it have firewall / iptables running?

          Results from those sqlplus, netstat and tnsping commands when about 10 seconds later?

          Result from lsnrctl stat immediately after 'lsnrctl start'?

            Hi,

            I have installed this on both CentOS 6.3, and now Oracle Linux 6.3 (both 64bit), running under Oracle VirtualBox.
            iptables is off on both systems

            Here is a script to show the timeline.

            $date;lsnrctl start;lsnrctl stat;tnsping XE;netstat -pan | grep 1521; sleep 5;date;lsnrctl stat;sleep 5;date; lsnrctl stat

              Not sure that this version of 11.2 is supported on OL 6.x. (memory says 11.2.0.3 was the first to support 6.x but memory might be old or bad)
              Did you try on OL 5.2?

              Did you follow pre-reqs for installation, per Installation Guide? http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17781_01/install.112/e18802/toc.htm

              Near the time of listener failing what do you have in listener.log and alert.log?
