Dear all,

is it possible to make a part of big Tables (14 GB) visible in Oracle Database Express Edition 11g Database?

If yes, it would be nice to get the correct development.

Thanks in advance.

Regards

Peter

    Hello Peter,

you mean you have a big table in a different (non-XE) database instance and want to access it in XE?
There are two ways to do that:
    1. Use a database link (and preferably a synonym)
    2. use Import/Export features, but limit the number of rows (e.g. if you have a history of several months, just use the last three or something like that)

    Dear Udo,

thanks for your reply. We have a big table in a dump-file which was created by expdp-command.

It is larger than 11 GB, which is the max DB-Size which can be accessed by our Oracle Database Express Edition 11g Database. How is it possible to import only a part of data from this huge table? Does impdp application have any parameters for it or maybe there is another software which can import only specified number of rows/bytes? If it's not possible, could you please be so kind and provide the full test-version of Oracle database without 11GB limitation?

    Thanks in advance.

    Best regards

See documentation library for regular editions, the Database Utilities manual covers Data Pump import and export tools

or maybe there is another software which can import only specified number of rows/bytes?
Then you would need to export according to "another software" rules/format as well.
As the table is not that big, one could copy the table, delete selected rows large enough, and export from that table copy instead.

Oracle provides, under the OTN downloads license, SE and EE editions. See http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/indexes/downloads/index.html
