commit mechanism in sqlldr

Inserting data using sqlldr:
sqlldr ${user_id} control=${ctl_file} rows=10000 bindsize=8192 readsize=8192 errors=999999 log=${log_file}/${today_DATE}.log

After execution, I see:
Commit point reached - logical record count 2
Commit point reached - logical record count 4
Commit point reached - logical record count 6
Commit point reached - logical record count 8
Commit point reached - logical record count 10
Commit point reached - logical record count 12
...

My question is:
1. I didn't set "direct=true", so it should use traditional import way. Rows are set to 10000, why it shows commit once every two lines?
2. If I use traditional import way, the meaning of "rows=10000" stands for commit once every 10000 lines, isn't right?

Thanks a lot.
