I have decided to use Fusion Middleware as you suggested the first time. I have it installed now, but I don't know how to use it. Is there any video that could help me to set it up? Right now I'm in the Administration Console, but I don't know what's next. The Oracle documentation always confuse me a little bit. I always learn much better when I see someone giving a live example.
If you have actually managed to get WLS and FMw installed and complete the configuration portion of the installation without issue then you have completed the most difficult part. Using and administering the product is probably not something that can be done in a forum posting. I agree that the product documentation is not the easiest to use if you are completely new to the product, however, if you keep in mind that the basic concepts are the same in v11 as they were in 10 then you should be able to figure most things out.
For example, if you goal for the moment is to just run a Forms application then just like in version 10, you need to ensure that OHS is running and that the java container which will host the Forms servlet is running. In the case of v11, this would be WLS_FORMS. Once OHS and WLS_FORMS are running all you need to do is plug in your url
You can set FORMS_PATH in default.env so that you don't need to include the path in the URL. To make this change, drill into Forms from the EM console and look for Environment Configuration. The EM console can be accessed as follows:
Username and Password are the same as they are for the WLS Console which is accessed using :
If you installed FMw 11.1.2 (Release 2), I recommend that you refer to the Forms Deployment Guide as it can help you to best understand where files are located and how to make changes:
I have installed Weblogic only, but not Fussion MiddleWare yet, because I didn't know if I have to setup WebLogic Server first or not. During the installation there was a window where they ask you if you want to install a cluster and virtual hosts which I did not. Do I have to install those options as well?
Can I continue with the installation of MiddleWare now? The only settings that I have to do are the ones the application ask while you are running the installation?
Do I have to shuttdown the Weblogic server before starting Fussion MiddleWare installation?
The exact order and steps to installing will depend on exactly what versions you hope to end up with. The easiest will be WLS 10.3.6 with FMw 11.1.2 (does not include Portal or Discoverer).
I do not recognize the prompts you mentioned regarding your WLS installation, so I am wondering if you installed WLS 12. You cannot use this version with FMw 11. Here is an overview of the steps required to get to Forms/Reports 18.104.22.168
1. Ensure that your machine has a static IP address. If not, install the Windows Loopback Adapter and configure (if on Win). Refer to the Sys Requirements doc for details:
You should review this entire document before beginning.
2. Remove all entries from the system PATH which contain a parenthis ( symbol. For example "(x86)". Copy the values to a text file. You can reinsert them into the PATH after the installation has completed.
3. Install WLS 10.3.6. At the end of the installation you will be asked to run Quick Start. Do not run this.
4. Install FMw 22.214.171.124. During the installation you will be asked whether you want to perform a "Deployment" or "Development" installation. If your machine has at least 4gig of RAM, I would recommend "Deployment" as this is the configuration required for production deployments. Even if you are not using this for product deployment, becoming familar with this configuration will be helpful. The "Development" install type is better suited for machines with less RAM and disk space.
You will also be given an opportunity to install the Forms and Reports Builders (regardless of the install type you choose). You choose to include or not include them based on your needs.
The complete document library for 126.96.36.199 can be accessed from here (below). I encourage your to at least review some of it.
Those are exactly the versions that I idownloaded from Oracle: WLS 10.3.6 and FMw 11.1.2
The server where I have it installed has already a static IP address.
So should I shut down the WLS application before I start the installation of FMw 11.1.2?
At this point you can just continue on. No need to stop anything. However, if any part of the FMw installation should report a failure, do not exist the installer. Most failures can be easily correct while the installer is still running then you can simply click on Retry. However, if you exit the installer, reinstalling is a little messy.
I think I have made a little mistake because when I run the installation of Middleware, it ask me to specify the Middleware hime where I want to install Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse and after I choose the location it displays the components that I want to install or that are already installed and I don't see Forms and Reports.
Is it possible for you to send me a direct link to download Fusion MiddleWare?
Is this the one that I'm suppost to download?
It sounds like you downloaded the wrong software. Try here:
If you are running on a 64bit Windows platform, be sure to choose the 64bit software. Also, the same applies for WLS.
Ok, that's the right place to download. I will start to download now and read the documentation you just send me in the weekend. Can I get back to you again next Monday in case I have more questions in this same forum?
I have installed Fussion MiddleWare also now, but during the configuration precess it asked me to choose: Configure For Deployment or Configure For Development. I have choose the first one, but when I try to connect to Forms it says that I need to create a connection because the TNS could not be resolve.
Is there any wizard in this version to create that connection?
One more thing, during the installation of MiddleWare it asked me to create a domain just the way Weblogic did, when should I create that domain?
Thanks again for your help!!
We can probably go on like this endlessly. You really need to read the documentation. Here is a directly link to the Appendix section which shows the installation screens and explains what each means. Generally speaking, you should use the default options. Yes, you need to create a domain and you should find that all the details should be prefilled assuming you properly installed WLS.
The complete product library which includes the documents needed to successfully install the product along with those needed to use it, can be found here:
As for the TNS issue, that would suggest to me that you were able to get a form running, but just couldn't log in. That's a pretty good sign. The tnsnames.ora used by Forms in version 11.1.x is located in the Instance Home\config. So something like this:
This is configured the same as it would be for most any other version. So if you have a working entry somewhere else, you can just copy it into this file.
Hi Michael and thanks for replying again,
I have created another domain with Oracle Forms and Reports 11gR2 and now is asking me for an Application Identity Store asking me to Specify OID Credentials and Configure the LDAP Server in secure mode, but I don't have the credentials for the OID. Do I really need to choose these two options?

Now I am connected to the database with Forms, but when I run one of my forms from Oracle Forms Builder I receive the following message: FRM-10142: The HTTP Listener is not running on <computer name> at port 9001. Please start the listener or check your runtime preferences.
As the error states, you need to start the listener:
Start > All Programs > Oracle Classic Instance - asinst_1 > Forms Services > Start Weblogic Server - WLS_FORMS
This can also be done from the command line or from within EM or WLS Console. I recommend that you consider reviewing the documentation. Information about starting, stopping and managing processes is documented in detail in the FMw 11R1 documentation library. Unfortunitely, these documents were not included in the R2 release, but the information is the same.
