In release 11.2.x, FAL_CLIENT is not needed. The FAL_SERVER should be set to a comma separated list of all the net service names where copies of archivelogs may exist. So in your environment, each instance should have it set to the names of the other three.1 person found this helpful
Thanks for the replay, Please find the scenario below.
And suggests me accordingly.
FAL_SERVER=standby1, standby2, standby3
On Standby1 DB:_
FAL_SERVER=PROD, standby2, standby3
On Standby2 DB:_
FAL_SERVER= PROD, standby, standby3
On Standby3 DB:_
FAL_SERVER= PROD, standby1, standby2

This looks right.
You can optionally set FAL_SERVER and FAL_CLIENT on PRIMARY database in 11gR2.
I've not set them on any of my primary database. But I would be double checking for the parameter "log_archive_config" on the primary database.
Thanks for the update,
Is't fine the below parameter giving in the Primary and remaning standby database are correct,
log_archive_config='dg_config=(PROD, standby1, standby2, standby3)'
Looks textbook correct :
Boston Database (Standby Role)
Chicago Database (Primary Role)
Denver Database (Standby Role)

I am little bit confused about FAL_SERVER and FAL_CLIENT parameter in Data Guard.
We are planning to configure multiple standby database in Data Guard environment. Let Assume that, i have production db named as 'PROD' and multiple standby name like standby1,standby2, standby3.
My Environment is:_
DB Version: 188.8.131.52
OS Version: OE5LU6
So in this case how to specify above Net service name in spfile on production server and also on other standby server.
Kindly Suggests me.
if you have three standby databases of primary , then from primary you must have three values in FAL_SERVER so that archives will be send to the all destinations.
and From the stadnby database, FAL_SERVER should be the oracle TNS service where you receiving the archive log files,
Note:- If you have RAC primary then mention each service differentiated by commas as shown example below.
From standby to Primary RAC:- FAL_SAERVER='PROD1','PROD2'
These parameters are dynamic, so that you can alter them at any time.
Thanks for the update.
