    970402
      Hi All,

I am getting "ORA-03114: not connected to ORACLE" while installing "Oracle Database 11GR2" on "Oracle RAC 11R2" cluster setup. I am getting this error at the time of "Oracle Database Configuration Assistant" configuration reaches till 39% on HP-UX 11.31 IA64 platform. Please let me know if any one of you aware of this type of issue.

                hi,

Are you try to install a stay-alone database or Oracle RAC? Are you using ASM or HPUX file system?

It's a Oracle RAC cluster setup with ASM on HP-UX file system.

                    hi,

Please make sure your ASM+ is running without problem. If problem not on ASM, it probably on your network preparation.
your cluster SCAN address should be configured through DNS to resolve to 3 IP addresses. Please check your installation log.

                    before start installation:
                    1. You should be able to ping node1, node2, node1-ic, node2-ic
                    2. You should NOT able to ping node1-vip, node2-vip, and scan-vip
                    3. You should be able to resolve the IP (/etc/hosts or DNS) for node1-vip, node2-vip, and scan-vip.

                      Hi

If you have metalink support, there is a step by step installation document for Oracle 11g R2 RAC for HP_UX. Please refer the below DOC ID.

"RAC and Oracle Clusterware Best Practices and Starter Kit (HP-UX) [ID 811303.1]"

                      Thanks

                                hi,

                                Looking your error:

                                Quick questions:
You did have two Oracle home setup? two user id ?
Is this your first installation? or you have failed before and try to re-install again?

                                  Hi Chen,

Last time grid installation was failed when i tried with my 1st node "lclc148", the problem i faced at that time was after installation of grid root.sh script get's failed every time, then i deinstalled grid after deconfiguring setup. When i tried with another node "lclc150" it's finished smoothly. i was able to run grid's root.sh on both the hosts with errors. And now i have finished Oracle Clustered database but while creating new database i am getting these errors.

Both the time of grid installation i have used same directory structure & users.

Please let me know your view on this. Is it possible for you to post a guide for Step By Step Oracle RAC 11gR2 installation on HP-UX 11.31 IA64 OS. I don't have access to meta links. :(

Btw Chen, if you don't mind. Could you please verify the steps of Oracle RAC 11GR2 installation on HP-UX 11.31 IA64 host ? I have already posted these steps in to another thread as below.

Are these steps are fine for grid installation on 2 HP-UX hosts ?

Here in above thread i have mentioned the grid installation steps & prerequisite setup.

Please point me if i have missed something in between.

                                    Thanks,
