We have a function in the analytics.
answers-->column fx tab-->functions-->system--->user
It will display the currentuser.
You can also use the session variable USER.
mark if helpful/correct..
yes - I know about both of the variables my question is how can I capture them such that either writeback in the form can pass them to the XML template, or the XML template can reference them directly?
User() function from the Analytics will work with write back XML-template also.Let me know if you have any issues with writeback.
I found a workaround.
As posted originally if you try to add a pure function based column then the write back property disables itself and will not be re-enabled, nor can you reference the column in question in the XML template insert / update statements....
However, if you take the original column and put this logic around it, then it seems to 'fool' the writeback and allow you to use the user variable.
Having done this just hide the column in question and reference in your XML template as before - job done.
Hope this is useful to someone else....
case when 1=2 then "My Folder"."My User Name Column" else user() end
See my last post - self answered.
