          Hello,

          From 11gR2, we can take the backup of Recovery Area to disk. In the earlier releases, it was possible to take the backup to only tape.

          You can take a look at this http://gavinsoorma.com/2012/08/rman-11g-new-feature-backup-fast-recovery-area-fra-to-disk/

            Hi Venkat,

            By the way, you didn't specify the Oracle Database Version in your query.

            Prior to 11gR2 , you could only take backup of the Flash Recovery Area (FRA) to Tape.

            Starting from 11GR2 one can take a FRA backup to Disk. The 'TO DESTINATION'-clause has been added to the BACKUP command.

            Example : RMAN> Backup recovery area TO DESTINATION ‘+DATA’;

            Thanks
