JRE won't install on FF 17

I've downloaded jre-7u9-windows-x64.exe then installed it then returned to [How do I test whether Java is working on my computer?|http://www.java.com/en/download/testjava.jsp] and it still failed with the warning "Something is wrong. Java is not working." so I went back to Firefox (FF) 17.0.1 Add-ons Manager still listed Java Deployment Toolkit 7.0.50.5 and nothing else with "Java" in it. Windows Control Panel\Programs and Features only had what I just installed starting with the letter J and I double-checked by sorting by size descending and nothing else > 50 Mb (with "Java" in it).

I do my best to use offline installers as I back them up, ready in case my system crash.

Update 1:

Well it seems I had to use the online installer as shown on http://s231.photobucket.com/albums/ee81/DynV/screenshots/?action=view&current=jre_7u9-test_on_ff17.png and that I had to use the 32 bit version even though my OS is 64 bit. I don't get it! FF only has the 32 bit version but is there some requirement that programs can only work with those of the same [insert word which would mean the same bit size, ie: 64, 32, 16] ? That seem odd. :\

It's not a requirement, it's a fact. You can't have 64-bit plugins run in a 32-bit program, just like you can't have 64-bit programs running in a 32-bit operating system. The other way around is possible.

That's how the computer architectures work.
