try to increase the heap size in odiparams.bat

Do I need to do something special after updating these ?

Restart the ODI Studio and Agent (if you are using one to process the XML file).
You should try using a larger java heap to make that working. Try something like 2GB+. However, be cautious on not increasing the JVM space too large as that will cause issues with Garbage Collection and causing JVM to lock for longer times..1 person found this helpful
Having said that you should consider using the database approach vs Java memory engine to load the XML file. Look here:

I tried increasing heap space up to 3 and 4Go but still stackOverflow in the connection test.
I also tried the external database tip (thanks for that) but still got stackoverflow although the table for the xml is created in the database but not populated.
As a complement I can say my xml file has a very complex structure, and do not have a dtd or xsd. ODI Manage to create DTD though.
