    cfgadm: Configuration administration not supported

    codrut.popescu
      Hi,

I am running Solaris 11 on Hyper-V built into Windows 8 Pro. When I type:

      cfgadm -al

      I do get an:

      cfgadm: Configuration administration not supported

is this something related to running Solaris 11 in Hyper-V? I know it is not supported but I am trying Hyper-V as Virtual Box was not stable enough for my tests.

      Thanks,
      Codrut

          Hi Codrut,

I'm not familiar with Hyper-V but a quick review of the cfgadm.1m man page
says that the -a option shows dynamic attachment points.

Maybe dynamic attachment points are not available in this virtual environment.
For listing device info, I would try:

          # cfgadm
          # cfgadm -l

I just fired up my Solaris 11 VB and cfgadm, cfgadm -l, and cfgadm -al all show
similar output. Below is cfgadm -al.

          Thanks, Cindy

All commands related to cfgadm are failing with

            #cfgadm
            cfgadm: Configuration administration not supported

I think this is related to Hyper-V and the lack of support for example for SCSI. Thanks for looking into this. However I am pretty sure it is due ot Hyper-V.

            Thanks,
            Codrut
