Hello to all!

Having a quite difficult time booting the App. Server. Not sure what is going on? Not to my knowledge has anything changed to make the App. Server not boot this time. Probably a clinch, but still want to share my frustration. I presently run an Oracle 10g DB, PeopleSoft 8.50, Windows 7 Ulimate PC and here's what I am experiencing (see below):

    Hi,

I think this is more a question for the Peoplesoft (https://forums.oracle.com/forums/category.jspa?categoryID=152). But half way your log the next error is there:
    2 Error Position: 0 Return:
1033 - ORA-01033: ORACLE initialization or shutdown in progress
So I think your database is still starting or has not been shut down correctly. Maybe the real error is in the logging of the database. But otherwise try the other forum.

    Herald:

Thanks for getting back to me! I think you are right in that this would be a question more geared toward to the Peoplesoft folks. The post is there, so thank you for that. However, you noted a key observation that led me to want to investigate more. If we look at a past post that speaks to your observation (ORACLE Initialization or shutdown in progress I believe it gave me more clues to go by. I do shared the same thought as the poster in that, the DB should have started as the service started for the DB as already. At any rate, I ran the instructed command in SQL, I got this script:

    SQL> connect sys/manager as sysdba
    Connected.

    Database dismounted.
    ORACLE instance shut down.

What can be made from this observation? Be Blessed

Problem resolved! Thank God! Go to this link http://arjudba.blogspot.com/2008/07/database-startup-fails-with-error-ora.html. I just increased the db_recovery_file_dest_size
