      # Generated by Oracle configuration tools.

      NAMES.DIRECTORY_PATH= (TNSNAMES)

      *>> Help me >>*
      why it did n't display all parameters ? Anything wrong here ?

            You can manually add the parameters you need to the sqlnet.ora file.

              Hi IBarr ;

              i want to include this one SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES=all.

              Should i include any thing except my required parameter ?

              I included that parameter , actually i tried to set OS authentication for local database server.

              SQL> CREATE USER ops$sham IDENTIFIED by shamos

              SQL> GRANT DBA TO ops$sham;

                And what did you discover when you googled "ORA-01034" and "ORA-27101"?

                From a shell command prompt, enter the following:
                id
                env | grep ORA | sort
                ps -ef|grep pmon

                  Hi to all;

                  I tried  to set authentication externally  :

                  I created sham  user for OS authentication (LOCAL SERVER DB ):

                  SQL> CREATE USER ops$sham IDENTIFIED by shamos
                  SQL> GRANT CONNECT TO ops$sham;
                  SQL> GRANT DBA TO ops$sham

                  then normally i shut test DB.

                  $ . .bash_profile
                  $ sqlplus /

                    If you shut down the database then, naturally, you cannot connect to the database as a normal user. The Oracle error message is reasonably clear-- the database is not available because the instance has been shut down. You would need to start up the database before you could connect (and you really shouldn't have shut the database down in the first place).

                      Hi JUSTIN ;

                      I am n't clear . Sorry for disturbing You. As a normal user i can't startup my DB.
                      I  connected as sysdba and started up my DB.

                      SQL> show user;
                      USER is "SYS"

                      SQL> select username from all_users;

                      +............+

                      Already i  done  before shut my DB.

                      SQL> CREATE USER ops$sham IDENTIFIED by shamos
                      SQL> GRANT CONNECT TO ops$sham;
                      SQL> GRANT DBA TO ops$sham;

                      Step 2:
                      I opened another terminal.
                      Why i cant enter into DB as ops$sham

                          First off,
                          SQL> CREATE USER ops$sham IDENTIFIED by shamos
                          does not create an externally authenticated user. It creates an Oracle authenticated user that happens to be named ops$sham. If you want to create an externally authenticated user
                          SQL> CREATE USER ops$sham IDENTIFIED EXTERNALLY
                          And this assumes that you have set your OS_AUTHENT_PREFIX to OPS$.

                          See, for example, this askTom thread

                            Thanks for kind reply .. I done it !!

                            2 /
                            User dropped.

                            SQL> CREATE USER ops$sham IDENTIFIED EXTERNALLY;
                            User created.

                            SQL> GRANT CONNECT TO ops$sham;
                            Grant succeeded.

                                Are you trying to create an operating system authenticated account? You create an operating system authenticated account then you change that account to be a database authenticated account. Then you verify that you can log in to the database authenticated account. This doesn't show anything related to an operating system authenticated account.

                                  Hi justin ;

                                  Really i tried to set authentication like this .,

                                  Facts About Operating System Authentication
                                  Syntax is used while OS Authentication

                                  sqlplus / as sysdba

                                  2. A SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES controls the operation system authentication.
                                  eg : SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES=(ALL) will allow the OS authentication

                                  SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES=(NONE) will fail the OS authentication
                                  " Connect internal " is not supported now , instead of which one should use " connect / as sysdba " to authenticated to the database .

                                    I'm not sure. That's why I asked you if your intention is to create an operating system authenticated account. That's why I explained that I was confused when you created an operating system authenticated account and then altered that account so that it became a database authenticated account.

                                    I'm guessing that you want to create an operating system authenticated account so that you can log in to your Unix account on the database server, run the command
                                    sqlplus /
                                    and be connected to the database without entering a user name and password. That's not what you did, though, and you indicated that you were successful in doing whatever you were attempting to do so perhaps my guess at what you are attempting to do is incorrect.
