    Certified EPPM Implementation Specialist

      Hi all,

I am a Civil Engineer and have completed masters in construction management. My profile is related to Project Planning, monitoring and control in the construction industry.

As such I use P6 R 8.2 and MS Project for multiple projects in the portfolio of projects in our organization. As I am related to the construction industry, I am unable to take a decision about pursuing the certification. It can be noted that most of the construction companies today invariably implement P6 across their portfolio. In such a case, is it advisable to go ahead with the certification and would it actually provide a value addition?

Your suggestions are highly valued and appreciated,

      thanks and regards,

This is really outside my area, so i can;t help a lot. This is a specialist area, i am not familiar with this product at all. ( But you are unlikely to find many who visit here are).

I assume you are talking about:

          http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=458&get_params=p_track_id:PP6EPPM
          and
          http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=5001&get_params=p_exam_id:1Z0-535&p_org_id=&lang=
          and
          http://education.oracle.com/education/certification/1z0_535.html

          ...

The certification is geared mainly towards Oracle Partners who specialize in supporting this product through the OPN network. That sometimes means they need someone on their staff who knows the basics of the product. So an OCS certification isn't necessarily recognised much outside the Oracle Partner Sphere.

          ....

However that said you might find it a useful way of studying Primavera P6 and demonstrating a certain knowledge of it. So take a look at the exam topics, and the topics of any associated training courses to note if their are apparent gaps in your knowledge that you think you would like to fill. Be aware however those from Oracle Partners may have additional training material for this exam that you may not have access to, so you may be forced to study the Oracle Documentation harder yourself. That is a harder journey but it can sometimes be beneficial longer term, as you will have practiced reading and understanding Oracle Documentation (you may do this anyway ... but you may google instead .. and knowledge of the Oracle Documentation can sometimes be extremely useful).

          ....

          I note you are already participating in forum: {forum:id=734}

          ....

I appreciate this is not a great answer and I invite anwers from others as well.
