Hi,

I have newly installed OSB 10.4.0.2.0 on Oracle Linux 6.2.

Im not getting the webtool for OSB.

I couldnot find any error on the logs. When im checking the process of obhttpd daemon, its showing nobody(you can see the same in below logs)

[root@Backup_SR config]# ps -ef|grep ob

Also when i installed OSB, i have given option A (ie Admin, Media server and client) but when im checking in obtool its just showing admin and client.
[root@Backup_SR config]#obtool -u admin
Password:
ob> lsh
Backup_SR admin, client (via OB) in service
ob>

Please help me to resolve these issues...

Could you help me how to resolve the issue?

Running the webserver as "nobody" is not an issue. What issue are you seeing? Have you checked if there is a firewall stopping you from getting to the server?

No matter what the install, a client isn't automatically given the mediaserver role. You can configure that with obtool chhost.

    Thanks

    Rich.

Thankyou for your kind reply rich.

yeah i have disabled the firewall. Now i got the osb web console.

Now i'm facing one more challenge.

We have SL500 with 6 Drives.

I have added tape library and all the 6 drives into osb and verified the library with the command "vfylibs -v". Its showing "id matches" for all the drives.

After i reboot the admin/media server, im trying to ping all the drives. Its showing error "error drive could not open.............."

I could not understand what was the issue.

    Can you share your suggestions...

    Thanks,
    Veijar

It's possible your /dev/sg entries have moved following a reboot. Check the output from "sg_map -x -i" and "obtool lsdev -lvg" to see if your drives still match up.

I would advise you to use the udev maps instead of /dev/sg for the attach points, from /dev/tape/by-id.

    Thanks

Ok rich but how can i find the corresponding udev devices for 6 tape drives?

If you look at the entries in /dev/tape/by-id you'll see they map to either the serial number of the drive or the WWN of the FC port. So you can map the device name to the target that way.

For example this is my setup and shows me the WWN of my FC attached library :
