Idle ASM-instance in list of processess

    Pavel
      Hello!

I see smon of ASM-instanse in list of processes of AIX,
      after chekin the status :
      srvctl status ASM
      ASM is not running.
Please let me now , why ASM-instance is idle and at the same time is in list of processes of OS ?
I think if instance is idle then shу don't take server resources

      I'm usung 11.2.0.3

      Thanks and regards,
      Pavel

What's is your GI? Standalone / RAC?

          Please post the outputs for:

          # ps -ef|grep asm
          # crsctl status res -t

Are you using "oracle" user for ORACLE DATABASE and "grid" user for GI?

Also, please try (logged as ASM/GI owner)

          # export ORACLE_SID=+ASM1 (in case of node 1)
          # sqlplus / a sysdba
          # select * from v$instance;

            Hi,
Try access ASMCMD, and then try to locate your disks.

If do not list, maybe your asmlib isn't started.

            Regards,

Your are using ASM with oracle user my friend.. look at the owner of the processes:
                  *oracle* 9309 1 0 Aug 10 ? 18:17 asm_pmon_+ASM
                  ...
                  ...
That's why you cannot access it with "grid". Make sure you star the ASM with correct ids..

You should stop your ASM using "oracle" and than start it via GI using crsctl ou srvctl.

                  Oracle User:
                  export ORACLE_SID=+ASM
                  sqlplus / as sysdba
                  shutdown immediate
                  Grid User:
                  srvctl start ASM -n <node_name>
PS: Are you using an standalone installation right? Look at your SID (+ASM).

                  Victor

                    Hello , Viktor

Are you using "oracle" user for ORACLE DATABASE and "grid" user for GI?
                    Yes , Viktor
                    I am sorry , Sir,
You are right , really I'm using ASM with oracle user,
                    this is my error

I can't stop the ASM-instance, for unown reason she's status is idle :
                    env|grep _SID
                    ORACLE_SID=+ASM
                    sqlplus / as sysdba

                    Connected to an idle instance.
I'm using an standalone(non RAC) installation

                    Thanks and regards,

Try to kill the existing ASM pmon process and then check. Though I do not recommend it, besides considering that you are connecting to the right ASM instance and you have all the approvals to do it.
