NPD - no edit authorization in Activity's routing requirements TAB

    Danieledd
      Hello,

I set up all activity templates with several steps and several functional areas per step.
It means each functional area is the owner of a specific step.

These areas should be responsible for completing all assigned tasks within their step BUT they must not have permission to edit routing requirement TABs.
Only one team (P2M Team) should be authorized to change "amber in/red in days", for example.
This team is not necessarily owner of activity steps.

Would it be possible to setup NPD module accordingly?

      Thanks and regards

          Hi,

          It seems not possible.

If set each functional area as the owner of a specific step, they will be able to edit activity in the active step, and they also can edit Activity's routing requirements TAB.
So the users will have no permission to edit routing requirement TABs unless they are not in the ative step.

          For example:
          Step1: Use1
          Step2: P2M Team
          Step3: Financial Team
          Step4: Dev Team
=> So when activity is in Step2, only one team (P2M Team) will be authorized to change "amber in/red in days", other user/teams will not be able to edit activity. But once workflow the activity to another step, authorized team will be changed.

          Thanks,
          Shunan

            Hello,

Thank you very much for your feedback.

If it is so, I do not agree with this system design.

Let's use the example you gave.

we are in step 2 where the owner is P2M Team.

You say the owner can make all changes he wants, in the routing requirement too.

I previously set up in its related activity template as follows:

            in amber days : 10
            in red days : 20

P2M team now goes and changes this setting as follows:

            in amber days : 100
            in red days : 200

This team is lazy and does not want to go past deadlines.
System does not keep track of it so P2M team can still blame other team to change it.

            Thanks and regards

If you find that teams are abusing their NPD privileges and disrupting projects in this way you can put validation events in place to prevent or even just track actions. See the extensibility pack for more details around NPD validation events and when they can be triggered.

And as always, definitely submit enhancement requests around areas you would like to see improvements.
