I have the same error if i connect directly to apex via 8080 port.
But if I try connect via Apache (reverse proxy) I can do it without problem.

          Edit
Upss. My I error is 404 - Not Found

          Did you restarted glassfish ?

            its not related with glassfish.

beacuse in apex listener standalone mod it gives the same error

(edit: and yes i restarted glassfish)

Look at the errors in glassfish\domains\<domain>\logs\server.log file. Are likely to give you a pointer in there.

no errors in the log file.

i think it is related with apex listener
because without glassfish it gives the same error

edit: same error with apex listener 1.1.4
now i think it is related with a setting of which i forgot whwn installing apex 4.2

                frustrating

is there any step by step instruction to install apex with listener and glassfish on windows 7 noobproof
instructions on documents are so deep

As you have said in the OP that Apex works with EPG it means your 4.2 installation is ok.
Apex and ApexListener installations are independent of each other. There is no setup in Apex 4.2 for ApexListener/EPG/OHS .
The ApexListener installation steps are in the documentation included in the respective ApexListener downloads. The process for 1.1.4 is different from that for 2.0EA.
The point we haven't touched so far is Java.
For ApexListener to run you need JDK 1.6Update 20 or newer. Do you have it installed ? Worth verifying your Java installation http://www.java.com/en/download/installed.jsp

                  Cheers,

                    jre7 update 9 is installed

                    Also jdk is installed.

and yes i followed the instructions with 1.1.4 and 2.0.

                    i know they are different.

it is not related with java i think.

                    tried so many things.

                    i'm just a beginner and

i think i'm giving up the apex to try.

                    thanks.

i think i'm giving up the apex to try.
                      That would be sad.
I think the documentation for both APEX and APEX Listener are quite good.
There is no complete documentation for "APEX 4.2 using APEX Listener on GlassFish", but you get each module to put it together as you need it:
                      - [url http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E37097_01/doc/install.42/e35123/otn_install.htm#BABJJAGF]Installing APEX 4.2 for use with APEX Listener
                      - [url http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E37099_01/doc/doc.20/e25066/install.htm#CHDBIAIF]Installing APEX Listener on GlassFish
and yes i followed the instructions with 1.1.4 and 2.0.
I'm not sure I understand what you did on which event... How exactly did you configure your APEX Listener instance?
Also, I'm not sure which instructions you've followed to change your GlassFish port to 8585. Are you sure you've actually used GlassFish and not the "Standalone Mode" for APEX Listener? If there is nothing in your GlassFish's log, it seems unlikely the error hits the APEX Listener instance you've deployed to your GlassFish.

                        thanks for your interest

i tried listener standalone mod of both 2.0 and 1.1.4

and also used listener with glassfish.

yes i followed the instructions separately.

now i think it may be a bug something related with operating system language

if i have some time i will try on english windows 7 on a virtual system.

in fact i tried apex a year ago.
                        again installation was a pain.
then i developed a simple application and stuck somewhere.(it wasn't a development i think. i'm just an ordinary computer user)
then i searched alternatives, cant found anything better.

i just want to try again on new version.

                        anyway, thanks for your concern.

                          Hi,

sorry for the late response - I've been "busy" during the christmas days...
now i think it may be a bug something related with operating system language
Possible, though I don't think this is likely to be an APEX Listener related issue, as it usally uses UTF-8 towards the database, so if any error occurs, I wouldn't expect it to take as long as down to the database, but should occur in APEX Listener.

Could it be the APEX installation you are accessing has some issue in it? Possibly something went wrong during the installation... As you mentioned above, you are using APEX 4.2, which is not the default APEX release in any database release (yet).
A (very global) indicator would be to check the state in the database registry:
                          SELECT status, version, schema
                            FROM dba_registry
                           WHERE comp_id = 'APEX';
Could you post the output for that query?
If this looks as it is supposed to be, a next step could be to review the installation log files or to redo the installation (uninstall APEX first) if you don't have anything in the instance you still need...

maybe you installed a runtime instance?  i got this error after doing a runtime only installation by apxrtins.sql

I am encountering the same problem.

After reading Shawnzeng's reply, I remember I had install apex by the command @apxrtins.sql.

So.. the solution is Converting a Runtime Environment to a Full Development Environment

Just @apxdvins.sql, then the problem done!
