    Interesting observation .. installing GI 11.2.0.1 on OL 5.6 vs. OL 5.7

      For some time now I've been using OL 5.7 to build sandbox systems under VirtualBox. Since my production systems are running on OL 5.6 I decided I should build my sandboxes the same way, and noticed an unusual difference. My scripts and procedures are exactly the same. My distribution media for Oracle GI and Oracle rdbms 11.2.0.1.0 are exactly the same. The installation media is on my desktop and the same directory is mounted by all of my sandbox systems as a 'host share'.

      Here's the interesting part. When installing GI on OL 5.7, running /u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/grid/root.sh returns the following. Note the "acfsroot: ACFS-93xx" messages.
      [root@vblnxsrv01 rpm]# /u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/grid/root.sh
      Running Oracle 11g root.sh script...

      The following environment variables are set as:
          ORACLE_OWNER= oracle
          ORACLE_HOME=  /u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/grid

      Enter the full pathname of the local bin directory: [/usr/local/bin]:
         Copying dbhome to /usr/local/bin ...
         Copying oraenv to /usr/local/bin ...
         Copying coraenv to /usr/local/bin ...

      Creating /etc/oratab file...
      Entries will be added to the /etc/oratab file as needed by

      The only difference between the two setups that I can think of would be in updating some kernel packages for VBox Guest Additions, and the packages in the oracle-validated set:
      yum -y install gcc
      yum -y install kernel-uek-devel-$(uname -r)
      yum -y install oracle-validated
      yes, I know that since I'm not using ACFS I can ignore these messages. But I'm curious as to why the exact same distribution media produced different error messages about it.
