Index rebuild error

Hi all,

while rebuilding index in oracle 7.3.3.5.0 version. on linux getting following error.

SQL> alter index xxxx rebuild;
alter index xxxx rebuild
*
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-01467: sort key too long

Oracle has given work around for 10g on words....

is there any another alternate...

Please let me know...

    You haven't posted the alternatives you have tried or what work around by Oracle you are talking about.

    sort key longer than that supported by ORACLE. Either too many columns
    or too many group functions were specified in the SELECT statement.

    I don't believe you are running Oracle 7.3 on linux.
