This error looks like CAS is not running or is not able to be contacted:

Exception in thread "main" java.lang.RuntimeException: java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused

Make sure CAS is running and re-run initialize_services.

    Hi Bravo,
You have not started your Endeca HTTP service. Start it and run again
    Hope this helps :)

I think your Endeca HTTP service is likely started. If it wasn't, you would've seen errors even earlier (Removing application, Setting Definition steps, etc.) in the process.

In the CAS documentation, there is a step towards the end of installing on Linux:

    Following installation:
    • To start the CAS Service, navigate to /usr/local/endeca/CAS/version/bin and run the
    following script: cas-service.sh

Did this start without errors? Has there been a system reboot or other event since the service was started that would cause it to no longer be running?

The inittab step that you reference below should be performed so that the CAS service is running on startup and does not require anyone to come in and manually start the process.

    Hi pat,

Yes the issue was with the CAs server , once the CAS server is started, i am not getting this error. Thanks a lot.
