An ASM extent consists of one or more allocation units. An ASM file consists of one or more ASM extents.

                  Hi,

                  Thanks for your reply.

Both questions(asm extents are differ,i think. The subject name is same in both question.

                  Anyhow,Please clear my doubts.

                  For Ex:

In 1gb hard disk, au size is 1 mb we have 1024 allocation unit in that disk.Is it correct?
In what basis, How many allocation units is allocated to an asm extents.
                  And
In what basis, How many asm extents to allocated to an asm file

Really i am unable to understand it.

                  Thanks & Regards,
                  VN

Rather than asking the same question over and over again, how about reading the plethora of posts, books and documentation on the subject. There is a great book that would serve this purpose and is more comprehensive than you can get here...
