The following files are needed for cloning an apps tier, so can also be used as backup:

I've to take full cold backup of single node Application Server on an external hard drive, can any guide me to the steps?
System configuration: EBS 12.1.2 on RedHat Linux 5.3 64 bit.
i) As you told me I took the backup of AS but someone told me that I had to run preclone script before it! is it true?Only if you are planning to use this backup for cloning since preclone is a must.
ii) Can I make clone through this cold backupIf you run preclone, then yes.
iii) Can I use it on other machine?Yes (if you run preclone).

ii) Can I make clone through this cold backupNo you can not, as you have not run preclone...
iii) Can I use it on other machine?Simply copying to another machine will not work, But you can make it work by installing new RDBMS Oracle home and then following the procedure to change the hostname.
