OBIEE installation failed while connecting to database.

      Hello All,
I am trying to install the OBIEE 11g (11.1.1.5.0) on my windows 7 laptop.. First time when I tried I created the repository using the RCU and it failed while creating the domain.. It was saying in-progress but the progress bar didn't move from 0%.. after goggling I found that I need to install the loop back adapter to 10.10.10.10 and subnet mask to 255.255.255.0

After doing this I also added a entry in C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc like
      10.10.10.10 localhost mypcname

      Ping localhost
Pinging Sadhana-PC [10.10.10.10] with 32 bytes of data:
      Reply from 10.10.10.10: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=128
      Reply from 10.10.10.10: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=128
      Reply from 10.10.10.10: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=128
      Reply from 10.10.10.10: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=128

While trying to install the OBIEE I cannot pass the database stage where it validates the DEV_BIPLATFORM

Connect string as localhost:1521:orcl it is giving me an error INST-08029 (unable to connect to the database with the given credentials.)

I can able to connect to the database through sqlplus.. I can also connect as DEV_BIPLATFORM..

From the above error it seems Time-Zone on the server where Database/OBIEE are installed is not supported by Oracle Database. Please find below steps for resolution of this issue.

          Steps:
          1) Identify your Server Time-Zone. For example "Asia/Colombo".
          2) Check if it is a listed DB supported Time-Zones list, execute SQL Statement:
          SELECT unique tzname FROM V$TIMEZONE_NAMES where tzname = 'Asia/Colombo';
          3) Update your Server with another Time-Zone close/synonym to the original Time-Zone.
In this example we would change to "Asia/Calcutta" instead "Asia/Colombo".
SQL Statement: SELECT unique tzname FROM V$TIMEZONE_NAMES; will list you all supported Time-Zones.

          4) Continue your OBIEE 11gR1 installation.

          If this helps please mark:)
